Have a receipt with several items taxed at different rates? Enter each item's total paid (including tax) and its tax rate below, then click Calculate. The calculator reverses the tax on each item and adds everything up, so you can see the pre-tax price and the tax amount for every item — and for the receipt as a whole.
How it works: for each item, pre-tax price = total paid ÷ (1 + tax rate ÷ 100), and tax amount = total paid − pre-tax price. Amounts are rounded to the nearest cent.

Worked example
You buy two items: one costs $106 including 6% tax, and the other costs $53.50 including 7% tax.
- Item 1: $106.00 ÷ 1.06 = $100.00 pre-tax, so the tax is $106.00 − $100.00 = $6.00.
- Item 2: $53.50 ÷ 1.07 = $50.00 pre-tax, so the tax is $53.50 − $50.00 = $3.50.
Totals: pre-tax $150.00, tax $9.50, total paid $159.50. Try it in the calculator above.
